So you want to hear more?
Some interesting Voluptasse developments lately. Since I last
regaled you with stories of my Voluptasse exploits, I started 2013
feeling positive that ‘this was going to be my year’ and Voluptasse was going
to take off in the direction that I was hoping that it would.
Unfortunately the
first quarter of the year hasn’t gone as I had hoped. Sales have been poor and
parties aren’t as frequent as I was hoping that they would be. I have been left feeling incredibly despondent
and at times have had to defend the reasons why I keep going and don’t throw in
the towel and carry on with my 9-5 job.
My motivation and confidence has been hugely tested over the
last few months. Every day there are new online shops appearing which undercut
prices to the point where I wonder how they can possibly make any profit from their
Sales? I am struggling to compete and its disheartening.
It is sad because of all the hard work that I put into Voluptasse
and I could feel it slipping away from me, despite my passion for Voluptasse I
know that for it to be successful it must also be profitable. Another difficulty that I have is that I have
no money for advertising so everything must be on a shoestring budget. I like the fact that I have to be creative to
attract attention to the business but I do worry about the disadvantage that I
have against a lot of my competitors.
However, I had a lovely boost from a dear friend of mine The Cara Sutra and
her partner The Digital Harlot who updated my artwork for me and set up my Blog so that Voluptasse
looked more sleek and professional. This gave me a huge confidence boost and has
given me the kick I needed to get back up, dust myself off and put on the good
old thinking cap! One of my finer points is my tenacious nature and I decided
to look at ways that I could advertise the business nationally, and for free.
Would this be possible?
So it contacted the national press offering my services for
free in return for advertising, sent off copies of my work and responded to
advertisements looking for people to participate in television documentaries
and shows.
As a result of this I am featuring in The Easter edition of
Full House Magazine which comes out on the 21st March 2013 as is our
Review Idol Competition. It’s a huge boost for Voluptasse and will achieve my goal
of branching out to a wider audience. I extended the closing date for the
competition to allow for more entrants and boost awareness of the Voluptasse
brand. It’s incredibly exciting!
I am also writing for some national magazines and have
started a book of my own which is something that I have always wanted to do.
The money that I make from this will go towards more advertising and providing
better competition prizes to increase visibility of Voluptasse in Social Media
and boost our Blog followers. Writing is another passion of mine and to be
encouraged to follow this passion to assist with something that I love is a
dream come true for me.
Another huge development is our ITV documentary. The documentary
focuses on family life in Britain during the recession and involves camera’s
being placed in my house for one whole week and capturing our family lives and
routines. The family and I are hugely excited about featuring in this positive
documentary and also because of how much of my time is spent building
Voluptasse I am confident that I will get some coverage for the business too.
So, its been difficult this year and things haven’t been
going as I had hoped but 2013 is only just kicking off and despite a shaky
start it looks like things might still happen for Voluptasse after all!
